The Prevention Learning Portal (PLP) is a free eLearning platform built to support working professionals across all sectors in Pennsylvania. It is designed to strengthen prevention practices and bring together evidence-based knowledge, practical tools, and accessible professional development in one place, supporting professionals as they move from learning to real-world application.This session will introduce participants to the Prevention Learning Portal and provide a guided walkthrough of its key features, demonstrating how the Portal can be used to support ongoing learning, informed decision-making, and high-quality prevention efforts in daily practice.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to: Describe the purpose and value of the Prevention Learning Portal for prevention workforce development; Navigate key components of the Portal, including eLearning courses and the eLibrary; Identify learning opportunities and resources aligned with their professional roles and prevention goals, and; Apply Portal resources to a real prevention challenge or workforce development need.
We are pleased to be joined by our colleagues, Jordan Joyce and Jeffrey Hogan from Penn State EPIS (Evidence-based Prevention and Intervention Support). EPIS is a university-based organization that connects research with policy and practice to improve outcomes for Pennsylvania’s children, families, and communities. Located within the Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center, it provides technical assistance, data-driven planning, and support for implementing evidence-based programs.Jordan serves as the Program Manager for the Prevention Learning Portal (PLP), where she provides strategic leadership and oversight for Pennsylvania’s statewide Prevention Learning Portal. Jeff serves as a Systems Change Specialist with the EPIS Project and is a Certified Communities That Care Coach, working closely with prevention coalitions across Pennsylvania.
