This is recording of January's installment of the PA Peace Alliance Webinar Series: Data-informed Community Engagement in Newark with Dr. Alex Gimenez-Santana!

Dr Gimenez-Santana leads the research component of a partnership between the Newark Community Street Team, Rutgers University and local nonprofit partners to identify crime and safety challenges, their causes and develop lasting solutions. Included in this is a strong focus on identifying and changing the physical spaces where crime occurs, or where residents feel unsafe. Alex talked about the project, how nonprofits can partners with researchers to improve safety, and how to make sure that researchers treat nonprofits and residents as peers in community safety efforts.
