From the Boston University School of Public Health: David M. Hureau and colleagues closely examined the effects of a streetwork program, using StreetSafe Boston as a model. StreetSafe Boston, an intervention that provided violence mediation and social services to 20 gangs across the city, worked to disrupt and reduce instances of retaliatory gun violence from its inception in 2009 until its closure in 2014.
